Catherine Rowett is Professor of philosophy at the University of East Anglia, and member of the European parliament (and member of its Committee on Foreign Affairs). She studied classics and ancient philosophy at Cambridge. She held research fellowships in Cambridge and Oxford, before accepting academic posts in Swansea, Liverpool and the University of East Anglia in Norwich, which is where she is currently professor of Philosophy. She is the author of several books, including Rethinking Early Greek Philosophy (Duckworth Publishers, 1987), Eros Unveiled: Plato and the God of Love (Clarendon Press, 1994), Dumb Beasts and Dead Philosophers (Oxford University Press, 2007), and Knowledge and Truth in Plato (Oxford University Press, 2018), as well as a range of articles and chapters on all aspects of ancient philosophy.
