Giovanni Giorgini is professor of political philosophy at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. He is also Life Member of Clare Hall College, Cambridge, where he was previously a Visiting Fellow. Giorgini has held visiting positions in many universities, in Italy and abroad, including Pittsburgh, Chicago, Columbia, Princeton, Bolzano and IMT-Lucca. He is the author of La città e il tiranno (Giuffrè, 1993), Liberalismi eretici (Edizioni Goliardiche, 1999), I doni di Pandora (Bonomo, 2002) as well as of a translation of Plato’s Politicus (Rizzoli, 2005), numerous essays, translations and entries in encyclopedias. Most recently, he edited, with Elena Irrera, The Roots of Respect: A Historic-Philosophical Itinerary (De Gruyter, 2017).
